Privacy Policy

1. Controller

The data controller for personal data processed by this service is Afam Muslim. Contact: info@afammuslim.com.

2. What we process

• Anonymous user token: a random, signed cookie named __Host-muid issued on first visit. Used to isolate your favorites, settings, and recent locations from other visitors. Not linked to any personal identifier.
• Approximate geolocation (latitude / longitude): provided by your device or entered manually. Used to compute prayer times.
• Settings: theme, language, calculation method and similar preferences.
• Recent location history: the last 50 lat/lon lookups associated with your anonymous token.
• Audit log: hashed (non-reversible) identifiers of write actions to detect abuse.

3. Legal basis (GDPR Article 6)

• Consent for optional location services and any additional cookies you accept.
• Legitimate interest for delivering the requested prayer-time computation and protecting the service against abuse.

4. Recipients

We do not sell or share your data. The following third parties may receive technical request data when you actively use the related feature:

• OpenStreetMap Nominatim: when you use the location search bar.
• timeapi.io: when your timezone is auto-detected.
• CARTO: serves the dark map tiles.
• Google Fonts, flagcdn.com: static asset delivery.

Each provider applies its own privacy policy.

5. Retention

• Anonymous cookie: 2 years or until you clear browser storage.
• Settings and favorites: until you delete them or invoke the erasure right below.
• Location history: capped at 50 entries; older entries are deleted automatically.
• Audit log: 180 days, then pruned.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR Articles 15 to 22 you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing. For California users, equivalent rights apply under CCPA. Email info@afammuslim.com to exercise these rights, or use the self-service delete button below.

7. International transfers

The service is hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt region recommended). Third-party providers listed in section 4 may transfer data to other regions under their own standard contractual clauses.

8. Children

The service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change accordingly.
